Recently, I was watching the documentary The 12 Biggest Lies. On “Lie #5 A Fetus isn’t human,” they showed a “pro-choice” lady holding up a sign that said “A MESSAGE TO OUR LEADERS: ROW vs. WADE OR YOU WON’T GET LAID.” I am not sure if this lady really, really thought about the statement that she was making. But she was actually affirming a point that I have made for a long time.
It has been my contention that a number of men do not really care about women. They just want to use women for sex. They want to have sex with as many women as they can, and as often as they can. These men are “pro-choice;” because if they get a woman pregnant, they just want to tell her to “Go get an abortion.” Then they do not have to take responsibility for their actions. And women who take the “pro-choice” position are actually allying themselves with these selfish men who do not care anything about women. And that sign that woman was holding up was making the very same point.
Those of you who read my articles know that I always include scripture and look at issues from a biblical perspective. So how does the Bible apply here?
In the book of Genesis, we read about Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers. He was very successful, even in slavery, and was put in charge of his master’s (Potiphar) house. Genesis describes how Joseph was handsome and had a good build. So Potiphar’s wife came onto Joseph. But Joseph’s chief concern was not “getting laid.” In Genesis 39:9, Joseph states “How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”1 Potiphar’s wife then got angry and reversed the story to her husband; and Joseph was thrown into prison. Joseph was so committed to obeying God; he chose prison over “getting laid.”
Now compare that to David. II Samual: 11 tells of David being on the palace roof and seeing Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, take a bath. David sought after her. David summoned Bathsheba to the palace where he got her pregnant. David also wanted to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. But rather than killing the baby, David ends up having Uriah killed by sending Uriah to the hottest place in the battle and pulling the other troops back.2
So all of you “pro-choice” people really need to think about this. Are you siding in with the men that really care about you? I remember the late George Carlin saying that pro-lifers are “anti-women.” But is this really true? I have heard it said that abortion “makes women equal to men.” Interestingly enough, I agree with that statement. I would say abortion “makes women equal to men” by lowering them to the same level as men. Is this what we want? You have to ask yourself why the president and so many members of the senate are so committed to funding Planned Parenthood. Do they get it? I do not think so. But then again, they are not looking at things from a biblical world view. Obama does not believe the Bible. Obama is a Darwinist.
This same David who committed this terrible sin praises God in Psalm 139 by saying “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.”3 So that is the beautiful message of the Bible. There is forgiveness and redemption available for David, for me, and for you. But you need to believe the Bible.
